Christ = Messiah ?
Christ is Greek means anointed.
Χριστός came from Hebrew משיח .
משיח is Messiah in Hebrew.
"The Messiah in Judaism (Hebrew: מָשִׁיחַ, romanized: māšīaḥ) is a savior and liberator figure in Jewish eschatology who is believed to be the future redeemer of the Jews. The concept of messianism originated in Judaism, and in the Hebrew Bible a messiah is a king or High Priest of Israel traditionally anointed with holy anointing oil."
A person anointed with holy oil.
"A noun use of χρῑστός (khrīstós, “of an ointment, etc.: to be rubbed on; of a person: ceremonially anointed”) (a semantic loan from Biblical Hebrew מָשִׁיחַ (mašīaḥ) and Aramaic ܡܫܺܝܚܳܐ (m'šīḥāʿ)) from χρῑ́ω (khrī́ō, “to anoint; to rub, smear”) "
The Greek word means ointment rubbed on.
So what does it mean to be in Christ?
You are a person anointed by an ointment.. or holy oil.
So is it oil.. or does oil represent something in the Bible?
Jesus said the Father, Elohim, was in Him, or on Him.. "when you see me you've seen the father".
"This is my son (human) IN who I'm pleased to dwell."
"Christ in You, the hope of glory."
So is the anointing God Himself? The Elohim of the Hebrew Testament? The 'Jehovah' of the Hebrew Testament?
The answer has to be yes.
God made it clear that Israel serves the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. ONLY the Jews served the One True God as revealed to Israel. No detours allowed. The Jews absolutely know and represent accurately the Elohim of Genesis 1:1.
So who will be the Messiah they are waiting on?
"..in the Hebrew Bible a messiah is a king or High Priest of Israel traditionally anointed with holy anointing oil."
"In Jewish eschatology, the Messiah is a future Jewish king from the Davidic line, who is expected to be anointed with holy anointing oil and rule the Jewish people during the Messianic Age and world to come."
"The holy anointing oil (Biblical Hebrew: שמן המשחה, romanized: shemen ha-mishchah, lit. 'oil of anointing') formed an integral part of the ordination of the priesthood and the High Priest as well as in the consecration of the articles of the Tabernacle (Exodus 30:26)[1] and subsequent temples in Jerusalem. The primary purpose of anointing with the holy anointing oil was to sanctify, to set the anointed person or object apart as qodesh, or "holy" (Exodus 30:29)"
Now look what happened in the upper room in Acts 2 of the Gentile Testament.
Being in Christ is not a belief experience.
It is an actual experience that happens to a person where God anoints that person with Himself.
Being 'saved' is believing what Jesus did for you.
But being in Christ and Christ in you - is a step further that should be the desire of all believers.
When the Bible speaks of the "elect", those are the ones that have had the actual reality just like those in Acts 2 .. Elohim has moved from being WITH a person, to being IN a person.
When God is IN a person, then that person is the ones spoken in the Bible as being IN Christ. They become the Template that gives the goal for all those 'saved' who have God WITH them.
WITH to IN is the goal.
The Bible terminology can be very confusing because the same word can be used symbolically and naturally. Christ means anointed.. but it is also used as a title for Jesus.. and sometimes as Jesus Himself.
Jesus was 'anointed' with God being in Him.
Jesus had the fulness of God in Him. We can have God in us by being connected. Kind of similar to a master computer, God, can be connected to a million laptop computers.. except God controls all the others.
Or it's been said a part of God that He wants to express is what entered each person in Acts 2.
God never gets smaller by sending out parts. Instead, God expands the manifestation of Himself by sending out parts. Just like the woman in the Hebrew Testament whose oil and flower never decreased when she used it.
1 Kings 17:16 “And the barrel of meal wasted not, neither did the cruse of oil fail, according to the word of the LORD, which he spake by Elijah.”
Christ IN You is the Template.
This is what I believe.. comma,
