The 9 Commandments
Here are the Nine Commandments :
1) I am the Lord thy god, who brought thee out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of bondage.
2) Thou shalt have no other gods before Me.
3) Thou shalt not take the name of the Lord thy God in vain.
4) X
5) Honor thy father and thy mother.
6) Thou shalt not murder.
7) Thou shalt not commit adultery.
8) Thou shalt not steal.
9) Thou shalt not bear false witness against thy neighbor.
10) Thou shalt not covet anything that belongs to thy neighbor.
The gentiles play with everything as if they are spiritual scientists.
How many gentiles does it take to screw in a lightbulb? .. None, cause they prefer to sit in the dark.
So the gentiles debate, flip flop, argue, fight, snub, compromise.. about the Ten Commandments that God gave Moses. But across the board, nearly all gentiles toss out the fourth :
4. Remember the Sabbath day to keep it holy.
They were so paranoid about being called Jews that they ran from anything that looked exclusively, in their interpretation, Jewish. And good pole Constantine and his bunch of political religious wahoos, slammed dunked the Jews with his Trinity and dismissing the seventh day Sabbath. Since he was injecting his political virus into Christians and handing out the cash for church buildings and television ministries.. well... the Sabbath had to be tossed for the new fresher reality of Sunday, the first day of the week.
They used Scriptures, as scientists tend to do to justify this new doctrine of "were not jews". Jesus rose from the dead on the eighth day! Right? .. overlooking that the original called out ones of Pentecost never taught this doctrine. But who cares, we are gentiles, we are scientists, and jews are stupid and lost and disposable.
So to Scripture we go.
What is the Sabbath that God commanded?
My understanding is the Sabbath is a rest.
Exodus 20:8 - Remember the sabbath day, to keep it holy.
Exodus 20:10 - But the seventh day is the sabbath of the LORD thy God: in it thou shalt not do any work, thou, nor thy son, nor thy daughter, thy manservant, nor thy maidservant, nor thy cattle, nor thy stranger that is within thy gates:
And Paul :
Act 17:2 - And Paul, as his manner was, went in unto them, and three sabbath days reasoned with them out of the scriptures,
Act 18:4 - And he reasoned in the synagogue every sabbath, and persuaded the Jews and the Greeks.
Here are Scriptures on the "First day of the week ; "https://www.blueletterbible.org/search/search.cfm?Criteria=First+day+of+the+week&t=KJV#s=s_primary_0_1
Mar 16:9 - Now when Jesus was risen early the first day of the week, he appeared first to Mary Magdalene.. (one of others that say this)
Jhn 20:19 - Then the same day at evening, being the first day of the week, when the doors were shut where the disciples were assembled for fear of the Jews, came Jesus and stood in the midst,..
1Co 16:2 - Upon the first day of the week let every one of you lay by him in store, as God hath prospered him, that there be no gatherings when I come.
And that is basically it. I don't no anywhere that says the first Christians quit Honoring the Sabbath. I think they waited until after the Sabbath to gather the next day because they respected the Sabbath. Perspective speculation.. yes. But they definitely did not toss out the seventh day Sabbath.
That is really all we're taught in Scriptures
Church buildings didn't start for a couple hundred years or so if I recall.
Christians gathered anytime they could, in any way they could, to encourage one another - in order to keep the purity of the Day of Pentecost.
I've seen it many times that Christians honor Sunday because of the resurrection. But there is no Biblical doctrine telling us to do that, though they're is nothing wrong with that.
But, that did not replace the fourth commandment.
I heard a Catholic teacher say Revelation mentions the "day of the Lord" or "Lord's day" which he interpreted with God's stamp of approval to be Sunday worship. Trouble is, that is not what that Scripture means. Here they are, Revelation first :
Rev 1:10 - I was in the Spirit on the Lord's day, and heard behind me a great voice, as of a trumpet,
Act 2:20 - The sun shall be turned into darkness, and the moon into blood, before that great and notable day of the Lord come:
1Th 5:2 - For yourselves know perfectly that the day of the Lord so cometh as a thief in the night.
2Pe 3:10 - But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night; in the which the heavens shall pass away with a great noise, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat, the earth also and the works that are therein shall be burned up.
Completely different.
So do gentiles have something 'holy' called the day of the Lord? Nope. The only day that comes close to that is the Sabbath because the Bible says that is when God rested.
Is it a sin to go fellowship together on a Sunday? Nope. Every day would be just fine if possible to is easily bored gentiles.
So it would appear if we toss out the fourth commandment, we have just created the weakest link to the chain that displays what God is like. He is those ten commandments.
So what should we do on Saturday? Keep it holy, however you define that. God said not to work. To honor it. To keep it unique and special because that is when Elohim rested. He never said not to worship, or play, or relax by resting or simply do nothing.
To be honest, who actually rests on Sundays? Be honest. Even Church goers, or two Service goers, push all day. Go go go is not rest.
So to say the Sunday Resurrection replaces the Saturday Sabbath is a not. Once upon a time, most all things were closed on Sunday and there was much more rest. But gentiles love money and Traditions are heart warming.
I should add that Jesus actually magnified some of the Commandments. I think He was showing that it really was Elohim inside Him. That was key to His whole ministry and God's for nearly 6000 years now.
And likewise, I don't see where Jesus cancelled them. He did express them in compact form of Love God and Love your neighbor (which likewise is the Character of God).. but he never said, change the Ten however you want to.
Once.. Paul said, "Col 2:16 - Let no man therefore judge you in meat, or in drink, or in respect of an holyday, or of the new moon, or of the sabbath days:.." Sabbath Days is not the same as the Sabbath, seventh day of the week. .. I think it is the ceremonial feasts and festivals of the Hebrew calendar.
Personally. I like resting on Saturday in honor of God and His Creation. And then going to Church on Sunday morning can still be a grateful blessing.
If I keep nine, I should keep ten.
If I dump one or replace it, I guess I can do the same to the others.
This is what happens when the hearts of the children turn back to the fathers at Pentecost. We start thinking like them I guess..
That second choice is too risky for me.
I can honor the Sabbath to honor God, on Saturday.. and.. I can go to Church on Sunday morning and play ball all afternoon and not feel like I've blasphemed.
I'm going to ponder this some more..
This is what I believe.. comma,
