But follow the Christ that the person got you to.

Think about it, the Jews didn't kill Jesus. He just allowed Rome to kill him - but remember, only because he let them.  But after that, it was the Jews killing the ones that were called "Christians".  It was later that they were called Christians, a term which could put them in a box. Why kill Jesus and Christians? Mostly because of political and financial reasons that were being hindered by Jesus. Positions of power were threatened. The Jews themselves were very used to Gentile pagans and their multi god fiascos. It's just that this time they were using something that was close to their heart : Elohim. The Bible is very clear that God made both good and that which is evil. God Himself is not evil, but he made the scenario - on purpose - that would let 'evil' manifest. "Thus G‑d created a world in which goodness and evil are equal options, and He created humanity with the freedom to choose."
